Prompt
An elderly auctioneer in a dimly lit antiquarian auction house, standing behind a wooden podium under a single brass lamp, holding aloft a weathered leather-bound manuscript with yellowed pages visible at its edges. The gavel in their raised hand is carved from bone or ivory, aged and worn smooth. Around them, shadows of empty auction chairs recede into darkness. The manuscript glows faintly—not magically, but as if lit from within by the last remaining speaker of each language written there. Behind the auctioneer on the wall, a massive chalkboard lists languages in fading chalk: crossed out, erased, barely legible. Shot like a Caravaggio interior: high contrast, theatrical chiaroscuro, dust motes visible in the lamplight, everything else dissolving into black. The auctioneer's face is lined, focused, solemn—not selling to a crowd, but conducting a funeral auction for words no one left alive can pronounce.
