The space between time and thought The moment just after you blink Just before you open your eyes That's where I live In the idea of me .... In the reminder of who I use to be In the thoughts echoing The memories fading The seconds passing The thoughts racing The decision retracing The regrets I'm facing .... Thoughts of day light frighten me For in the sun I will be laid bare for all to see My wounds My cracks My flaws My .... me(ness) .... This is not simple It is not something that can be licked from the skin, like sugar or honey. It is sour Like iron .... It's buried deep In places we don't talk about In corners, we dare not light What happens if the world sees me What happens if you see me What happens if no one sees me These are the thoughts that reside Where I used to be. ~~ #poem #poetry
